The bathrooms are probably my favorite anywhere.

Overall, I'd always stay here when it's <4000 THB, and even at 4500 it's not a bad deal. There were a few times when the price was comparable to SGS, and I'd always do SGS+LM on a trip vs. just one of them, and maybe the SGS is worth 300-500 more per night due to location and pool, but it's a hard decision.
Thanks for the review and comments.

I like Meridien Bangkok as well and agree with several of your points, but in my humble opinion your comments are overly positive so let me present a few counter-points to balance things out, keeping in mind the bottom line is that I like Meridien so please do not interpret this as LM bashing.

Yes the dual shower is great in the bathroom of the suites, but personally I think the bathroom is not the best in Bangkok. First off, it’s too dark in there. Second, the bathroom is not that big. I much prefer the bathroom in the suites at Marriott Marquis which is huge and bright. Also, a suite with 1.0 bath is inferior to a suite with 1.5 bath as far as I am concerned. That is a minus for LM.

Sounds like LM has recently upgraded its happy hour and now there is an area near the breakfast restaurant which is somewhat equivalent to a lounge. But in terms of food at happy hour, LM remains below hotels with a proper lounge such as Athenee, Westin, and several others.

In terms of location, some want the river view so Royal Orchid Sheraton can be nice, some want Sukhumvit location. LM is neither.

The hotel is not in bad shape but it’s not new and shiny, unlike some others for example Marriott Surawongse.

So yes I like LM quite a bit, and your success rate 67% for suite upgrades sounds about right and is something I value at this hotel. They are not stingy like Athenee and Westin. You also did not mention bubbly for breakfast: a nice feature of LM. But above 4k THB more often than not I would book somewhere else because there are other good options in the city.
