I could wait until we come back but 3h hike up burns quite a lot of energy and my wife was ready to eat anything. So having meal there was the only logical option. I would avoid going into all you can eat place because a) I would assume that it would be very crowded for Saturday afternoon with waiting lines and b) buffet is not really healthy idea, especially after a high energy hike.

Well, when you only have weekends, getting there and leaving as early as possible is one way to manage it. In terms of time taking to hike - if one is familiar with the area and doing this not the first time - it would take shorter. And yes, kids will slow you down obviously.

Thanks for the detailed suggestions. I will come back and ask again about Nikko and other places if I will have another chance to go.
