I am planning a trip to Charlotte in September to visit a friend and was wondering what hotel to stay at? I recommend the Doubletree -- it's right smack in the area of Soutpark and is so nice. I just stayed there recently for a wedding, and we even had some of the events in the hotel. There's a great courtyard, nice pool, clean rooms (although doublecheck your A/C when you arrive -- ours was busted). And -- it was very affordable. I believe we payed 80 bucks a night or something, and we had a suite!
