Hi Jordan YVR, that may have worked in retrospect. But I had to cancel quickly last week since I woke up unwell close to my flight departure time so just went the App and cancelled. At the time, I thought I would be returning either later that day or the next day but I still couldn't get on a flight. And I was still thinking that cancelling the Sept 21st flight, would be simple credit minus change fee situation, since I've never been made aware that cancelling an outbound while trying to preserve the return is costly and complex.
