You're making the same mistake in logic that so many make in the Rewarding Events thread about the FIRST event earning 10 elite nights. The terms don't say "ONLY" and yet that's obviously implied. The terms don't say "EVERY YEAR" but that's also obviously implied. The terms don't say "GUARANTEED" like you want but it's also obviously implied.
The new terms also are identical to those used previously by SPG and currently by Hyatt, where the same implication was just as true--also without any use of "guaranteed" in the terms. But it still was guaranteed. Platinums are entitled to the best room available, including a suite (but not at Ritz-Carlton/Edition). Platinum Premiers are entitled to the best room available, including a suite at Ritz-Carlton/Edition. It's that simple (based always on availability).
