Yes that's right. power seemed to be maintained while waiting 80min for co-pilot (luckily J cabin was half empty and I did have to change seats twice before finding an outlet that would at least charge the phone).

Well that’s something. I’ve had issues in a few countries with recessed sockets, or where there’s like one power socket and a large surge protected adapter blocks both off. I have also been known to travel with a power bar on longer trips.
Unfortunately guaranteed power in accessible sockets isn’t guaranteed even in J. As more airlines (mainly not AC) remove IFE this is going to become more annoying.
If power isn’t actually working I can see AC giving a 5% off code (in J). If your plug doesn’t fit, I seem them shrugging, not changing it. There’s no clear return so I doubt they care unless it impacts their cabin loads.
