I have made purchases at gas stations for gas gift cards and third party gift cards (amazon) to get 3x points. I have been doing this for a while now and not had any issues. Recently I discovered that 1 charge did not get 3x but Amex ended up giving me extra points and fixed it.

From the terms it looks like the only gasoline is supposed to count for the 3x points but most seem to give 3x anyways. Has any been able to get 3x points on gift cards at gas stations or had problems?
