Thank you all for your feedback. I hadn't taken the weather into account, so will look at possible overnight stay, or booking a very early flight from UK, and a late emirates flight out of AMS.
Surely if you have a morning flight out of the UK and take the 21:50 out of AMS (EK150), you should be ok. Only problem is then when your ex UK flight is NOT delayed. EK check in for that flight only opens at 19:00 or something like that so you’ll be kicking your heels landslide (unless you are HBO).
