Called for Prestige. Nothing was offered. The rep told me that the clock will not reset for a bonus even if I downgrade and the card number changes but I don't trust that information based on what I have read on blogs. She was able to see if my card number would change if I downgraded to the Preferred and it was going to change. I told her nevermind. I have until September 28th to make a change and get the annual fee back. Hopefully, retention offers will come back in the next month.
an update - I called yesterday and did not get a retention offer I asked to downgrade the card to the no annual fee version. The rep tells me I would only get $375 of my annual fee back. I told her I thought I had until September 28th to change and still get the annual fee back - she said that was to cancel the card, not to product change. I was pretty annoyed because I would have called earlier to downgrade if I knew that was the case. I tried to plead my case but I got nowhere. I decided that it was not worth $75 to keep the no annual fee preferred. Plus my card number was going to change so it was probably going to reset my clock anyway and I closed the Prestige. Guess ill be back in two years !
