Having done some construction work in Hawaii, I can vouch that contractors there work at aloha speed, which may also be a factor.
If it really bothers you, I would suggest going to the front desk to ask to speak to a manager. Know in advance what compensation you think is appropriate--one night's worth of points refunded to your account, for example. Politely explain why you think that is appropriate and see what they say.
bolding mine. this. as someone who lived five years on the big island of hawaii, i laughed out loud reading the thread. so much
aloha...oy.
back on topic, op, that stinks. sorry you're unable to sleep comfortably on your vacation.
Kacee and
DJ_Iceman's suggestions are spot on. know what would make you 'whole,' and ask for it. not sure what temps are there right now, but if it's going to ruin your holiday to sleep without AC, come up with a plan, either asking for points or a portable AC (walmart) or a cooling spa treatment each evening or whatever--or ask for your points to be returned and try another property or find an airbnb for the remainder of your holiday. i realize this would be a pain, but at least you're on-island and could check them out beforehand.
good luck.
