I have just returned from a stay at this property and am on a high from the incredible experience. The hard product was of the highest quality and the soft product was up there with the best that I've encountered.

It is truly a hotel that revolves arounds whatever the guest needs. Butler service (not the liaison sort but the personalised kind that offers unpacking) was offered. Communication with the hotel staff was always effortless and pleasant. Nothing is too much trouble and one need only say something to get a concern addressed.

Anticipatory service was also evident. For example, when my companion folded his arms because he felt a bit chilly, a blanket was immediately offered before I even noticed his situation. Shame on me but hats off to them.

Food options were not as extensive as in some of the other Bali properties at this level but the quality of the cuisine is top notch. The excursions and the activities we tried were all executed flawlessly.

There are however minor points that can still be improved upon. I have told the hotel such and hope that these get better with time. Part of this has to do with more attention to design than function.
-WC is cumbersome to use in terms of size and material. Washing facilities beside it would also help.
-Lack of a centralised light switch beside the bed makes it unwieldy to turn off each and every light in the tent.
-Their is a small step down from the washbasins area to the tub/loo section that is unexpected and slippery.
-Whilst the mini-bar trunk adds greatly to the ambience, it's rather heavy and cumbersome to maneuver.
-Plunge pool is freezing even at mid-afternoon.

A bit more difficult to rectify are these two points:
-Privacy is quite a concern as you can see your two neighbouring tents. People can also look into your tents from the pathways
-This is less of a problem with the tents further from the main areas but those have an even bigger problem, they require a real hike to reach. The grounds are not conducive for buggy use and so one would expect a lot of vertical movement to go around the property if one chooses the more secluded options.

None of these negatives would be enough to detract from this fantastic and truly wonderful property. Despite all these observations I'd still label my stay as "perfect."

Last point I'd like to make though is that for some reason I myself don't understand, the place didn't give the same feel as the FS Tented Camp in Chiang Rai. Despite the illusion of being in another world, I knew that tourist Bali was just outside. The tents were too comfortable that I felt I was staying in a villa with canvas on top rather than a tent. I think that the FS tent knew when to stop with the refinements. Also the play-acting involved with the FS river arrival helped set it apart. I'm still torn whether to give the final recommendation for Capella Ubud as a clear alternative to the FS Tented Camp. The two experiences are more of complements. People who enjoy one will most likely enjoy the other as well. All I can end with is that this was hands down one of my finest stays and Capella has surely won my patronage.
