1) they will not allow you to put a baby/child seat in it.

"Infants / Babies On-Board
Question What is supplied to allow my infant/baby to sleep on-board a British Airways plane ?

Answer British Airways is the first airline to offer a specifically designed seat for infants/babies. Designed by Britax, the seat is ideal from 6 months to 2 years, but could also be used from birth. The seat can be used in a variety of positions from horizontal to vertical. The maximum allowed weight of the child in Britax seats is 13kgs/29lbs.

Can I take my own infant car seat on the flight?
Passengers travelling with infants (children from 6 to 23 months of age) may use their own car type seats in conjunction with a normal aircraft seat when the appropriate child fare has been purchased.

Acceptable Seats:
The car seat must be designed to be secured by means of a normal aircraft single lap strap and face the same direction as the passenger seat on which it will rest. The UK CAA requirements differ from the FAA requirements which allow rearward facing car seats. The CAA does not permit rearward facing car seats. The seat must be a purpose-designed children's car seat with a 5-point restraining harness and must not exceed the dimensions of the aircraft seat."

So it looks to me like not only does BA allow car seats, they actually have a specially designed Britax seat just for flying available.
