Went to a Guess store, and run the MileagePlus X “Nearby Stores” feature to discover the Guess near the top of the list showing zero point something miles.

Picked up a couple of items, at the store, which run up to between $100 and $200 at the register.

Purchased MileagePlus X Guess gift card for the exact amount, told the attendant that I am paying with a gift card, and showed her the screen.

She proceeded to put the gift card number in, and at first everything appeared to be working normal, I even saw the customer facing terminal flashing “transaction approved.” Alas the attendant told me that the gift card did not work.

As the line to the register builds up behind me, we are arguing with the attendant, and she calls the manger over the phone; tells the manager “there is a customer here who wants to pay with a gift card on his phone screen.” The manager says, “We do not take those.”

Exited the store, and immediately sent MileagePlus X feedback that the store refused to take the gift card and I want a refund.

Got an automated reply that they ‘usually respond within 7-10 business days.’

That was nine days ago (five business days). I guess MileagePlus X gave themselves another full week. I do not understand why the customer service has to be so slow. Perhaps they wait for me to forget, or something. LOL
