Connecting / same ticket or separate ticket? Is your flight going to be late? Are you doing MEL-CNS on QF or JQ? Will you have checked luggage or carry ons?

IMHO MST (minimum sensible time) is about 2 hours given you have to deal with immigration and customs. If on separate tickets and if transferring to JQ then I’d double that given the JQ terminal is separate from the QF end of MEL.
