From my experiences missing an AC connection at YYZ, they often give me the choice to voluntarily downgrade to Y for an earlier flight when its J is full, or wait for the flight I was "re-protected" on in J. They have never dumped me into Y when there was a choice of J on at least one other flight. Since you are doing a "flagship" style route, you will have many options for rebooking.
