The QR upgrade offers are not cheap in any way.
If you book a 4-sector flight with QR in Y for (lets say) EUR 750 for a routing from Europe to Southeast Asia and back.
If you now fork in EUR 600 for a sector upgrade, you end up paying EUR 2400 + EUR 750 = EUR 3150.
For EUR 3150 you normally can buy business class all the way, have certainty, choose the best seats early on and can enjoy lounge access.
If you are flexible, its not a big problem to buy business class to almost all Southeast Asia destinations from Europe for EUR 2500.
