On small amounts it's not worth the calculation, but .85p is only a 'good' buying price if you have an immediate redemption in mind. You're exchanging something that has universal value £ $ € for a limited currency backed by an airline, for which they control the value of the said currency. It's widely rumoured that an Avios devaluation is coming, the rate at which Iberia knock them out suggests it's not too far away either, think the 90K for flights you don't need to take, in effect offering 90K Avios for a little over £200, which is 'buying' at around .25p.
Unless you have an immediate redemption and are certain of its value, 'buying' loyalty points is a risk and hard to justify on the basis of oh look I'm gaining .15p of value.
Just my thoughts on it.
