We are traveling to Japan via China in about a month as a family (Mom, Dad, and young child), all with US passports and we are planning to fly JFK->PEK->DLC->FUK. The PEK->DLC->FUK flight is direct with a stop in DLC, so I think we need to do TWOV for this transit because Air China booked us with a transit stop in DLC. To complicate matters, Dad has two short tourist (~4 day each) visits to Turkey and Mom has one (4 days with Dad) for vacation. Does anyone know the current state of getting TWOV with a (or two) Turkish stamps in their passport? Does it help that we have US passports and look like prototypically US tourists? Last, if you are denied the TWOV, what do you do? The outbound flight is PEK->DLC->FUK, will they ship us back to the US? Ship us to Japan via a direct flight (PEK->NRT)?
