Because there are people who dont like this intrusion into their finances. Look at HSBC who contacted all their existing account holders and asked them to supply the bank with their details, again. People expect finance to be easy not complicated / people are scared of finance.

I get there are many on here, whos finances are easy and are not in debt. Not everyone travelling with ba is in the same situation. I can see those people being upset. Saying they lost a deal to cut their mobile phone charges because of BA and CIFAS. Or renting a house and the landlord doesnt know what to do instead refuses them the house.
