I have gotten the same error message on MXP for months. "Purchase failed. The system is experiencing errors. The charge on your credit card statement has been automatically voided and will be credited back to your account in a few days." Every merchant, every time. It happens after I get all the way through the purchase, right after entering password I have uninstalled and re-installed the app, as well as replace my credit card. Nothing seems to work. No reply from MPX when I sent them a message through the app. Any suggested appreciated. I am losing out on a lot of miles.
Not sure about your core issue, but perhaps try saving your password by selecting one of your saved cards to be the default. When I did this it meant I no longer have to enter the password when making a purchase using the default cards. Makes things much quicker in store. Could be worth a try.
