Its kind of urgend, as my Points are about to expire in 3 days..
According to the Marriott website you have to "make a stay (or redemption)..." which I read as the stay has to occur and not just be booked and later cancelled. Given the timeframe you have to work within, I would suggest purchase a few points and be done with it. Of course, this is presuming you do not have LT status from either side of the house, in which case combining accounts may solve your issue.
