Secondly - all what you wrote, should motivate any reasonable non-local person never to ride a bike in in Vietnam's public roads unless they have adrenaline deficiency and if one does - there are better way to treat that condition than riding a motorbike in traffic.

As far as serious threat of death - I was member of non-English FB group of tourists/expats in Vietnam and at least once in a quarter there was a post that someone (a tourist) has died in a motorbike accident.
Whole hearted agree. Grab & Taxi are so cheap in VN, cheaper than public transportation in most 1st world countries. Personally, I wouldn't even drive a car in Vietnam, I don't even know how to navigate the crazy traffic anyway.
