Thank you for the comments, and what a shame it seems to be a relatively common occurrence that people are not allowed to use the facilities that are supposedly there for them. @
nufnuf77, you're right, I should have taken photos, but without them, I don't think I'll go to small claims...
Like I say, I'll have to chalk it up to experience.
