some also have different routing rules, e.g. UA will allow BOS-IAH-FRA ... LH does NOT. So you can't get BOS-IAH-FRA LH coded without breaking the fare in IAH ... unless you buy a GPUable fare and UA changes it afterwards to a native flight number.
