Plenty of people clear waitlisted upgrades. Plenty of people don't. It's blanket statements like "SWUs are truly worthless" that are really the things that are worthless.
But go ahead, folks, don't waitlist your SWUs, that's just less competition for those of us that happily do so.
The only 3 times last year I waitlisted SWU's none of them cleared--YMMV sure but AA used to have plenty of SWU availability at booking but now it's all gone compared to this time last year. Is that melodramatic? Have you searched for yourself?
