Yeah, thanks I know that. My point was that this time last year there were plenty of flights available to redeem SWU's at booking during this time frame. There is nothing now. I hope this is a glitch or AA's SWU 's are now truly worthless.

It's extremely melodramatic. In 4 years as EXP I have never missed a Y--J longhaul SWU, BXP3, or miles+money upgrade request. Many - if not most - of those have cleared off the waitlist. YMMV.
Plenty of people clear waitlisted upgrades. Plenty of people don't. It's blanket statements like "SWUs are truly worthless" that are really the things that are worthless.
But go ahead, folks, don't waitlist your SWUs, that's just less competition for those of us that happily do so.
