That's a bit melodramatic, isn't it? Waitlisted upgrades still have a good chance of clearing (or at least mine have cleared 100% of the time)
My last 4 waitlisted didn't clear. 2 of them I did receive a regular upgrade, one at the 100hr mark. I'm still sitting on 4 - however, I was able to find an SWU yesterday for a flight on 9/30. YMMV
