I called AC today to request seat assignments for one of the bookings since for some reason the online method requires payment (the other booking lets me choose just fine for free).
The agent told me that my wife and I aren't allowed to sit together in a bank of 3 since there is only one extra O2 mask per bank and if the 3rd seat is occupied we'd be short. He placed us across the aisle from each other to be together.
It'll be my first time traveling with both kids so I'm new to the "rules" but I swear I've seen parents sitting together before (with a child each).
Is this really a thing?
The phone agent told me that even if we booked seats together online we'd be promptly separated on board. The whole thing just seems flawed because there could be other pax with lap children randomly positioned and this rule could easily cause a bunch of trouble on board.
That would never happen as soon as someone goes to checkin and it shows edited with 2 infants it would abort the checkin as it is not permitted. Same if someone with an infant was already sitting there. It would not allow you to seat someone else with an infant in the same row on the same side.
