I found that Alaska didn't really have any "luxury" properties. We stayed at very nice B&Bs there and were much happier than we would have been at not great hotels. We stayed at The Bell in the Woods B&B and were very happy. Excellent breakfast, comfortable room, run by a woman who was previously in hotel management, so not a completely amateur operation. She also recommended an excellent restaurant for us, which we were grateful for, because there's a lot of touristy not so good food there. It took us probably 2 hours to drive to our B&B near Alyeska, so I wouldn't necessarily stay there if you are trying to do things in Seward or be in Seward for something.
