You can ask to have the table swung back - and it is removed on some NEO flights - but that's deeply unpopular in this forum (I think).
After a flight where I wanted the crew to fold the table and they did not know how I asked on this forum and was provided with step by step instructions so there was definitely nothing unpopular to it - at least a year ago!
