If I spot one I might like, I am going to take the keys from that vehicle, lock it and still look around a little more since it's a lot to take in all at once when the aisles are full (which they weren't completely today...and no restocking was going during the entire time I was looking). That's what Ultimate CHOICE means to me.
If the lot is not busy and you're truly staying on the lot to quickly check out other cars and will be back to that car within 2-3 minutes, that's not so bad. When people people lock a car and then just meander around the lot or venture back into the airport, that's a problem.
