I have been successful with the upgrade bids (and at levels below the original J cabin I fare prices) on
CMB-CGK/SIN/KUL/BKK/DOH/MCT/CDG. I try to avoid SIN due to higher prices and fuller cabins.

It does help to check fare offerings and be willing to take the less desirable flight times.
