This is the one thing I have a issue with. Why would a agent, break out into profanity simply upon walking back from the jetway and seeing you? There's no logical reason that could explain that unless said agent was bipolar. Could it be that you possibly shouted something down the jetway initially...or even entered the jetway of your own accord? That would initiate a verbal reprimand and makes the most sense.
The OP never made this claim. I suspect that he tried to board, she said "no dice", he asked why, and then the argument ensued. While none of us have "both sides of the story", based on my experiences with UA gate agents (granted, many are awesome), I'm inclined to believe the OP. Off topic, Spring Airlines (which, has the least comfortable seats of any airline on the planet) personally calls my cell phone when last call is 5 minutes out, and they do so in a friendly manner.
