My sister in law wears large leg braces due to having had polio when she was a child. She is regularly forced to remove her shoes and trousers by very undertrained people masquarading as professionals in TSA uniforms.
My son also wears leg braces. Though now 19 and maturing quite nicely, travel was an ordeal for him as stupid, insensitive people pawed his legs and feet. Oh, yes, they were also wearing the uniform of the TSA.
To be fair, once out of every five times we encounter a real person who seems to have some understanding of what it might mean to have a disability paraded in semi-public situations or in front of stranger period.
Best wishes in this year 1984,
