To be fair, there was a message, but I was also on a conference call with work at the time and didn't really take in what was said. The only bit I got was the wait time over 10 mins. When a human picked up (some considerable time later - maybe an hour?), that was what the chap told me - card is cancelled, new one will be in the post.
