"Positioning Statement
Beginning this month, Delta is replacing our current Widget with the traditional heritage design. Changing our Widget is just another way to reconnect with our rich heritage and has been a request from many employees especially in light of our 75 th anniversary. We don’t anticipate additional expenses to replace the Widget. Instead, as our aircraft cycle
through heavy maintenance visits (HMV) process, the widget will be replaced during the painting process. The same concept is true for paper products and any stock materials. When those items are replenished, the Widget will be changed.
Q&A
Q. Why is Delta making this change now when the company is being cost conscious?
A. Changing our Widget is just another way we’re reconnecting with our rich heritage and has been a request from many employees. We don’t anticipate additional expenses to replace the Widget. Instead, as our aircraft cycle through the HMV process, the Widget will be replaced during the painting process. The same concept is true for paper products and any stock materials. When those items are replenished, the Widget will be changed.
Q. Will the Widget be replaced everywhere (i.e. airports, uniforms, aircraft, signage, etc.)?
A. Yes, the new-generation Widget will be phased out and replaced with the heritage Widget throughout the entire Delta system over the next few years.
Q. When will we see the first heritage Widget appear in the marketplace?
A. Replacing the Widget will be a gradual process. Because the difference between the two Widgets is minimal, you won’t see an immediate total change. However, we have painted several aircraft with the heritage Widget design, which are currently flying throughout our system.
Q. Is Delta planning to change the flowing fabric livery to another design as well?
A. No, we will not change the flowing fabric design on the livery."
