Lived in the UK for 5 years. One thing I found is that the Brits just seem to have lower standards for almost everything than most other Western Europeans. Like the kind of lifestyle that passes for middle class (in the American sense of 25th-90th percentile of household income, not in the British "not royalty but not poor" sense) in Britain would be considered really bad in most other countries. Homes there are expensive and look like ...., lack double glazing, bathrooms have those weird two-tap sinks, transport is terrible and the really annoying thing is when something crap like LHR T5 gets touted as somehow being awesome. Lots of the things would be really easy to fix as well, like making bathrooms in airport lounges that have ceramic tiles instead of whatever that weird blue hospital-looking-thing is, organizing trash pickup in a way that doesn't incentivize people to leave trashbags on sidewalks for days, adding more ticket machines at train stations etc.. Anyway, enough about that rant, don't need to live there any more and luckily don't need to fly BA much at all

I miss the restaurants and nightlife/other cultural events in the UK though, that's one thing the UK had going for them..
