awright, since this is turning into a guessing game, I'll go back to UA ... a D8S over Denver (DEN) and SEA
10- unless I'm misreading googlemaps, Newark (EWR) is the closest airport to Perth Amboy, so this is another one where it's largely a guessing game as to the airline/stop you're looking for ... I can come up with a bunch of options, viz:
- AA via Chicago (ORD) or Dallas (DFW)
- BN via DFW
- CO via Denver (DEN) or Houston (IAH)
- DL via Atlanta (ATL)
- TW via ORD or St Louis (STL)
- UA via DEN or ORD
so maybe we're looking for the "rare bird" --
i.e., the least common equipment
- AA/TW flew a lot of 727s and 707s of all sizes/variants, so I think a strange routing (i.e., AA via IAD/PHL, or TW via MCI/PIT) would be the only way either of these would qualify
- BN was all 727/72S except for a couple oddball DC8/D8S trips (we recently discussed SAT-TUS-LAS or something like that)
- CO concentrated on the 72S and DC-10 but they had a handful of 727-100s
- DL/UA were big D8S operators in addition to their 72S fleet, and UA also had plenty of 727-100s
surprisingly,
jlemon makes no mention of First Class, but I'm gonna guess that was just an oversight ... CO 727-24 via DEN
10. Newark (EWR) is indeed the airport we are looking for. However, this flight did not stop in Denver (DEN) and the air carrier in question wasn't Continental although you have also correctly guessed the equipment: a Boeing 727-200. And I
think the flight in question offered first class....although I'm not completely certain about this as the airline we are looking for here was in the process of introducing first class on "selected routes" at the time. Here's another hint: the airline in question is not one of the other air carriers you have mentioned.
11. You have correctly guessed the second stop: Seattle (SEA). However, the service wasn't operated by United, the first stop wasn't Denver (DEN) and the aircraft wasn't a Super DC-8. Please guess again!
