Sorry you didn’t like your stay. I’m surprised, because even the previous incarnation as the Le Meridien was a very well liked and very well rated property in this market. No one was surprised that it was converted into a similarly well regarded RC.
Ownership here isn’t a factor at all; the RC and IC hotels are managed by two wholly different corporate entities and never would cross-recommend. No hotel ever is going to recommend another hotel managed by another company except as a true last resort. They always prefer to keep it in the (managed) family whenever possible.
Did you ask for a new room after being moved to the smaller room from the smoking room? Was the hotel sold out? Did you ask to be moved to another hotel?
