Can anyone advise as to which is better and why? What is the difference between the two wings? This is a special trip in November with my sweetie, during Loy Krathong, so having a balcony and a view of the river is important to us.
1) The Krungthep Wing is the new wing and is supposed to be more luxurious.
2) When I stayed at the Shang in the beginning of June, the Krungthep pool was closed and under construction. There also seemed to be a lot of construction in and around the lobby of the Krungthep Wing. You should check on this aspect then book the Krungthep Wing if the answer is favorable.
3) Natuarlly I assume the carpets are nicer in the Krungthep Wing which was my biggest nitpick with the Shangri-la wing. However for $55/night via Priceline, I'm not complaining.

Cheers.
