VIP treatment: The gentleman at the desk said that he would give us a "nice room", due to our loyalty status, though never expressly said "upgrade". I don't believe we received an upgrade, though looking at the room types online, the next room type would have been very similar anyway. We booked a Swiss Business Advantage Room, which was on a Private Sale rate, where the special rate was the same as the lowest level room.

We received drink vouchers, which could be redeemed for soft drink, juice, a wide range of teas, house wines and Tsingdao. No cocktails or mocktails on the voucher drink list.

There was no welcome gifts placed in the room. Nothing. Nada.

Reaction: Meh. To be honest, for the price we paid, we could stay in a Shanghai Pullman or a Sofitel and get better loyalty recognition, or we could save some money and stay at the Novotel Shanghai Atlantis and get looked after quite well, too.
