Child fares still exist on many routes across the water.... usually 75% of the adult fare.
at the same time, I always counsel people to spend money on rooms and experiences as very few people will want to hear about how your flight was when you return home, but everyone will ask where did you stay, what did you eat and what did you see.
Agreed. Though I have yet to see a child fare offered on any of the flights I looked at.
