A few points:
- the AI 144 longhaul from EWR is not exactly punctual: https://www.flightstats.com/v2/fligh...ing/AI/144/EWR
- Note that if you skip a segment on your booking the remaining segments will cancel automatically. @:-)
- you could ask AI to put on the earlier flight after clearing customs at the transfer desk
