Makes little difference to me. Like many people I can survive a short haul flight without having to be continually eating and drinking and in any case I wouldn't feed most airline food to my dog.
There was huge wastage under the old model so I can understand why BA moved to BOB. Other airlines have done the same - I recently took a 1 hour hop from Harare to Bulawayo and there was no on board catering at all. However as far as I know everyone arrived alive even with a 30 minute delay.
However following along with the various threads on here I think BA has a long way to go to get its catering right. I've only taken 2 CE flights this year, one was some greasy toasted sandwich (one mouthful and no thanks) and the other only some cold meat dish left which I passed on. All very premium but thank fully the flights were cheap.
I suppose catering is up there with training and cleaning as one of those things that is easy to cut, and now BA is firmly in the low-cost arena I would expect further efforts in this area both on board and in the lounges.
