Medicines/medical equipment
I am a walking pharmacy but have no prescription pain medicines or prohibited nasal decongestant spays or pills. I do have insulin and pills for diabetes (as well as needles, test kit and strips and lances), thyroid medication, blood pressure and cholesterol medication. All will be in individual bottles with pharmacy labels. I also have some over the counter vitamins and medications including Ibuprophen. I have sleep apnea and travel with a CPAP machine. What do I have to do to get the medicines and CPAP machine into Japan? We are landing in Tokyo (NRT).
Now where I say I have no prescription pain medication, I do take Lyrica for diabetic never pain. It doesn't treat pain as much as prevent it by keeping the nerves from misfiring. I am concerned because it is a Schedule V drug. Schedule V is for the drugs least subject to abuse.I am not sure whether this is a narcotic in Japan. If it is, will I get into trouble or just have it confiscated? I can go without if need be. it will be clearly marked and not hidden.
Once at our hotel I plan to divide the pills into individual multi-pill pill pouches, one for morning and one for evening of each day. Will this cause a problem? All of our travel in Japan will be by bus or train with no internal air until departure.
With my medicines I am an active traveler, without restrictions. Without many, I would quickly be in real trouble.
I have done searches and am aware of some earlier answers. However, much of this was not recent and I would appreciate your present thoughts.I have read the official information and will be bringing my insulin in the form of flexpens and restricting other medications. The description of medical devices did not include CPAPs but from what I've seen that ought not be a problem. to a 30 day of less supply. all my prescriptions are for 90 days. Any issue with bringing a 90 day bottle with just 16 days worth of pills inside?
My thanks to the members of this forum who have answered my earlier questions. You have already done much to relieve my pre-trip jitters.
