Is it though. You have to factor in that part pay on an Avios flight is worth less as you are not getting Avios for the booking (or the TPs). I did this calculation for a short haul flight recently (for both cash and Avios bookings) and decided it still wasn’t a very good use of Avios either way. Same for using Avios for the taxes element on a Avios booking.
