Average stay

Another stay, but not as good as previous stays. This worries me a bit as this hotel has been consistantly good in the past.

Booked a Superior/King room. At check-in, nothing was mentioned about upgrade (but we are used to this and I was not worrying too much as I have always been upgraded spontaneously at this hotel). Arriving in the room, I immediately noticed this was the room category I booked. I called the front desk from the room and it was confirmed that it was a Superior room. I was told they would bring me new keys for an upgraded room. New room was a deluxe one (I think). Nice room, OK incident closed. But, a colleague of mine, who arrived a couple of hours later and who is Gold was upgraded (spontaneously)...to a Suite. Go figure

Welcome gift was posted in the dedicated thread :

Drink voucher was given at check-in (valid for everything, including Champagne).
Among new things, the bar has been completely renovated in a very different style (see pictures) and the restaurant is currently under renovation. New name of the restaurant : Opaline. The menu is mostly French revisited food. All good.

I needed a restaurant reservation and I wanted the Concierge to do it. The Concierge has his desk temporarily at the front desk. He was busy assisting another customer and it was obviously something complicated. So to avoid me waiting too long, a front desk agent kindly noted all the information (name of restaurant, #pax , time) and said she will pass the info to the concierge. 2 hrs later, I still didn't receive any verbal or written confirmation so I called the Concierge who was not aware of my request

I then noticed something bad in my room thanks to the sun light through the windows : the 2 armchairs had some kind of whitish traces on their side (see pictures). Not very appealing and not acceptable...

I requested a late check-out at 2pm and it was granted without problem.
On my invoice I had the bad surprise to discover this robbery of "resident fee" that I have reported in specific thread, so I won't repeat everything here.

Ten days after my stay, the points have still not been posted yet . I have sent a message today to the hotel asking them to do it.

Overall the fundamentals of the hotel are still good, but the relatively poor LCAH handling is of worry as well as the lack of attention to details. Most of the staff seems new to me this time. I don't know if this can be the reason (poor training), hoping that this is not the sign of a new (bad) management of a great Sofitel.
