I've booked Holiday Inn Cartagena Morros for six nights in October, for a total of 62,500 IHG points redeemed. As I've read reviews of that property, there are frequent complaints that it is remote and far from the "action" of the city.

I'm considering canceling that reservation, and making a six-night reservation at the InterContinental Cartagena de Indias, for a total of 140,000 IHG points redeemed. Looks to be closer to the Walled City and nightlife, but also saw some complaints about it not being well-maintained . . . . plus it has no private beach--you have to cross a street to go to a public beach nearby. Holiday Inn Cartagena Morros says it has a private beach, and the hotel is on the shore, with direct access to the ocean.

I'm not sure that spending the extra 77,500 IHG points will be worth it (in order to get the InterContinental vs. the Holiday Inn). I researched online but haven't seen a lot written comparing these two properties--Anyone with experience in Cartagena have a recommendation?
