I wonder if perhaps when OP was accidentally struck by a elbow, whether his mind vividly re-imagined the confrontation. Possibly remembering it more dangerous than it actually happened.
I tend to believe the other passengers didn't see it. As soon as the plane docks, everyone is ripping off their seatbelts and reaching for their bags. So they may not have seen the other guy grab the OP's shoulders and push him down. The 2nd assault may have seemed accidental to most people who didn't know the context. And the verbal threat (we don't know how loud he said it).
