Does anyone know how MR earnings post (or don't) when closing the card used on those transactions?

1. If the charge is made in the current billing cycle and the card is closed in the current billing cycle, are these MR points forfeit?
2. If the charge was part of the previous billing cycle that already generated a statement when the card is closed, do these MR points eventually post, or are they also forfeit?
